Sakamoto's Letter

A letter written to Chizuru after the end of the main game. Enjoy his heartfelt letter filled with his inner thoughts and words of affection!

Dear Chizuru.

Since you're always by my side, it feels a little strange to write to you.

But, I thought I'd take this opportunity to write you a letter and tell you how I feel. So, please bear with me for a while.

The first time I met you was when you were looking for your father at Teradaya in Fushimi.

I was surprised to see a cute girl in a man's guise, so I couldn't help but call out to you.

You seemed interesting, so I told you my real name.

And that's when our relationship began.

After that, you met me at the request of the Shinsengumi to try to get some information.

I knew that, but... while meeting you, I tried to find out more about the Shinsengumi.

You were really serious about it. It was cute how hard you tried to get info out of me.

Watching and interacting with you was so much fun...

Before I knew it, I was looking forward to seeing you when I went to Kyoto.

And that's when the Teradaya incident happened.

Thanks to you rescuing me from Teradaya, I was able to take refuge in the Satsuma clan's residence.

I thought you were a pretty brave woman to jump in with all those shogunate officials standing there.

So... this incident was the turning point when you became the one who saved my life.

Also, I realized that you were genuinely worried about me.

You were the first woman outside of my family to feel that way about me. I remember feeling overjoyed.

I wanted to save you from the Shinsengumi next, but… that didn't work out so well.

Since you were Kodo's daughter, I couldn't do anything bold.

And then that incident happened. I was attacked at Omiya and slashed… and became a Fury.

After becoming a Fury, I found out what Kodo and the Tosa clan were doing in the shadows, and decided to put a stop to it.

You should have left the Fury thing to me and the Shinsengumi guys...

But you jumped into the fight yourself and tried to stop it with me.

You're really incredible, you know that? I think you're the best woman in Japan, no, the world.

...I've made a decision too. When this is all over, I'm going to take good care of you for the rest of my life.

Right now, I'm officially dead, so I can't just go out in public.

But in return, I can go anywhere in the world I want.

I'm going to take you with me into this wide world, so prepare yourself.

And please stay by my side laughing forever.

Ah... And one day I'll take you to Tosa.

I want you to know my hometown, the place that holds so many fond memories for me.

That's what I want to tell you. Thank you for reading all the way to the end. And I'll just say one more thing.

Chizuru... these feelings will last forever. I'll love you for eternity.
